Updated: May 5, 2021

Dinosaur Salt Habitat is perfect for children who love dinosaurs! This sensory activity highlights the unique texture of salt and will provide many hours of hands-on fun for children. Adding succulent plants and small rocks will help children imagine being in a real, prehistoric environment with real dinosaurs!

Materials Needed

1. Clear bowl

2. Salt

3. Food coloring

4. Ziploc bags

5. Dinosaur toys

6. Succulent plants

7, Rocks

8. Sand rake or shovel

Directions

1. Fill a Ziploc bag with enough salt to fill a third of the bowl. Add about 10-15 drops of food coloring into the bag and mix.

2. Repeat step 1 with two other colors and mix in separate Ziploc bags. If you want more layers of different colors, just add less salt for each layer.

3. After you have mixed all your colors, carefully pour the colored salt into the bowl to create even layers. Use a small sand rake or shovel to help evenly spread out the salt.

4. Add some succulents and rocks to create a prehistoric scenery.

5. Add some dinosaur toys and you are ready to play!
