Learning about winter habitats during the winter season is the perfect activity for children of all ages. Use simple materials to create an interactive, hands-on diorama that is fun to play with and great to display!
Materials Needed
1. Any cardboard box
2. Dark blue & light blue construction paper or felt
3. Cotton balls & white pompoms
4. Jumbo marshmallows
5. Mini marshmallows
6. Sugar cubes
7. Miniature trees, twigs, & rocks
8. Arctic animal figurines
9. Tacky glue
10. Scissors
Directions
1. Set up the cardboard box.
2. Add dark blue construction paper or felt to the bottom of the box.
3. Add light blue construction paper or felt around the insides of the box.
4. Use the cotton balls, marshmallows, & sugar cubes to create levels of "ice" for your arctic animals to stand on. Glue them down with tacky glue. You can also use the cotton balls to add clounds to the sky.
5. Add trees, twigs, rocks, & the arctic animal figurines to the scene. You can also use any other materials to get creative while creating your arctic habitat!
